Tired of hearing me rant about antivaccinationists? Actually, I’m a bit tired of ranting about antivaccinationists myself, but a blogger’s got to do what a blogger’s got to do when an event like Jenny McCarthy’s “Green Our Vaccines” rally pops up. Still, that doesn’t mean I can’t take a break and indulge myself for a […]
Author: Orac
Orac is the nom de blog of a humble surgeon/scientist who has an ego just big enough to delude himself that someone, somewhere might actually give a rodent's posterior about his copious verbal meanderings, but just barely small enough to admit to himself that few probably will. That surgeon is otherwise known as David Gorski.
That this particular surgeon has chosen his nom de blog based on a rather cranky and arrogant computer shaped like a clear box of blinking lights that he originally encountered when he became a fan of a 35 year old British SF television show whose special effects were renowned for their BBC/Doctor Who-style low budget look, but whose stories nonetheless resulted in some of the best, most innovative science fiction ever televised, should tell you nearly all that you need to know about Orac. (That, and the length of the preceding sentence.)
DISCLAIMER:: The various written meanderings here are the opinions of Orac and Orac alone, written on his own time. They should never be construed as representing the opinions of any other person or entity, especially Orac's cancer center, department of surgery, medical school, or university. Also note that Orac is nonpartisan; he is more than willing to criticize the statements of anyone, regardless of of political leanings, if that anyone advocates pseudoscience or quackery. Finally, medical commentary is not to be construed in any way as medical advice.

In the leadup to Jenny McCarthy’s little antivaccination-fest tomorrow, it appears the the medical community has at least roused itself enough to write an open letter to Congress about immunizations. It’s not much, but at least it’s something. I hope all the signatories are ready for a P.R. blitz to counter Jenny McCarthy. That’s enough […]
Sadly, it’s almost here. I’m referring, of course, to the “Green Our Vaccines” rally led by that useful idiot for the antivaccinationist movement Jenny McCarthy and sponsored by Talk About Curing Autism (TACA), Generation Rescue, and a variety of other , which will take place a mere day from now. I’ll give the organizers credit […]
Even here at the ASCO meeting, I couldn’t help but be made aware (thanks to Steve Novella and others) about a brand-spanking new video of a supposed encounter with an alien that–unlike all the other dubious videos of alleged alien encounters–according to its maker will really and truly convince you that, really and truly, Aliens […]
Thanks to the ASCO meeting and meeting up with some relatives here in Chicago, I didn’t quite finish what I was going to post this morning. There have been at least a couple of abstracts presented that I wouldn’t mind blogging about; I just haven’t gotten to them yet. I also haven’t forgotten about Jenny […]
